Laser Hair Removal Consultation

The Reason Why You Need One

Your initial laser hair removal consultation is the most important part of your treatment. On your consultation we check through your medical history and assess your skin and hair to ensure you are suitable for laser. We will also answer any questions you may have regarding the treatment.

We want to make sure you have all the relevant information to allow you to make an informed decision and be sure that laser is right for you. After your consultation you should be equipped with all the knowledge you need to understand how laser works and the science behind it.

Your patch test is also vitally important as it allows us to test your skin for any sensitivity from the laser. It will also ensure you are a suitable candidate for treatment. For safety reasons we insist on a patch test and require a wait time of 24-48 hours before your first treatment. This is a vital part of your laser hair removal consultation and we can’t emphasise enough how important it is for your safety.

When putting your trust in us and investing in laser hair removal treatment we feel it’s only right that we invest the time to explain things fully. We make sure all your questions are answered. It’s essential that we carry out all safety checks before treatment so that you are not put at risk. We use medical grade lasers so it is imperative we put your safety first.

Our consultations are informative and friendly and don’t involve a sales pitch to tie you in to a 6 treatment deal for the ‘best price’. We allow you to relax and become informed about what you can expect from treatment with us.

On the day we will ask you to fill out a laser hair removal consultation form and you may be asked to discuss the following:

  • Current hair removal methods
  • Medical history
  • Current or recent medication

We need this information just so we can confirm you are suitable for treatment.

It is completely normal to be a little nervous about treatment before your consultation, but please don’t be. Towards the end of your consultation we will perform a patch test for you. You will be pleasantly surprised at how laser actually feels. After your patch test you’ll know that you have nothing to worry about. Again your patch test is vitally important before treatment. It allows us to ensure your laser setting is correct for your skin type.

It is important that you allow some hair to be present in the area so that we can assess your hair type. Please also insure area is free from all topical products and fake tan.  Please inform your therapist if you have been exposed to UV light over the previous 4 weeks before your patch test.

You should never begin laser without a patch test being performed this is extremely dangerous. You should also wait a minimum of 24 hours after your patch test before you start any laser treatment.

All of our consultations are approx 30 minutes long and after your consultation you should have a clear understanding of:

  • How laser removes unwanted hair
  • Why the Cynosure Elite is the best hair removal devices on the market today
  • Our therapists skill set
    • We have been using Cynosure lasers for 10 years
    • Our therapists are fully confident with all skin types and settings required
  • What the treatment itself involves
  • What the treatment should feel like
  • Expected results
  • How many treatments may be required
  • What you can and cannot do during and between treatments

Laser is a very personal treatment. It can take some time so it’s important that you’re happy and feel comfortable throughout your course. It’s also nice to visit the salon, meet the staff and see the surroundings and the laser machines to help you feel at ease.
